Noah Syndergaard is once again missing a start against the Mets for an extra day of rest, as the Phillies righty will pitch Monday against the Reds instead of Sunday against his former team.
Syndergaard did the same earlier this year when he was with the Angels, only this time, he is getting an extra two days of rest, not just one extra day. So, it does raise some eyebrows despite Syndergaard pitching in his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Whatever the reasoning, Mets fans made sure to lay into Syndergaard, who ducked the New York media in Los Angeles (later sarcastically saying he was out saving a burning school bus), trolled the Mets’ combined no-hitter when praising teammate Reid Detmers’ “real” no-hitter, and recently told reporters that he chose to sign elsewhere and not return to the Mets because he felt his injury recovery would have been put under the microscope much more intensely in New York.
