Baseball is officially reopened for business, and before it closed due to the MLB lockout, the Mets were among the busiest teams in the league, signing Max Scherzer to a record deal after adding Mark Canha, Starling Marte, and Eduardo Escobar.

It was reported before the lockout was over that Steve Cohen and company weren’t ruling out another big splash once the roster freeze ended, but that reportedly won’t come via Kris Bryant.

According to SNY’s Andy Martino, Bryant is not on New York’s radar, despite the team being linked to the third baseman since before the start of the 2021 season. Bryant, who earned his fourth All-Star selection last season, played third base, first base, and outfield last season.

Martino also reported that a reunion with Michael Conforto, who is a free agent after declining the Mets’ qualifying offer before the lockout, is also not on the team’s radar. Instead, they are focused on adding more rotation help in addition to Scherzer, as well as bullpen upgrades or a “depth bat.”
