Edwin Diaz ready for postseason: 'When they know I'm coming, they're in trouble'

Edwin Diaz is one of the Mets' greatest weapons, and if the Timmy Trumpets sound at Citi Field on Friday night, the scene in Queens will be unparalleled.

It will also mean trouble for the Padres, if you ask Diaz.

"When they know I'm coming, they're in trouble, so I want them to feel the same thing today if Buck gives me the ball," Diaz said.

"If I come tonight into the game, this place will go crazy. Earlier in the season when I was coming into the game, I could feel the emotion from the fans…I think tonight will be more electrifying than ever. I can't wait to come into the game and see the vibe from the fans."

As for Diaz himself, he will keep the focus on his normal routine and mindset, the same one that made him arguably the best closer in baseball all season. The stakes will be higher, but Diaz plans on keeping his heartbeat the same.

He can't say the same for his opponents if they see him trot out of the bullpen Friday night.

"For me, this is another game," Diaz said. "I will take everything like always. I will try to control my emotions like always. I will try to do my job like always. When Buck needs me, I will come into the game and do my job."
