After mulling it over, the Mets have picked up Carlos Carrasco’s $14 million club option for the 2023 season.
The veteran righty will return to a rotation that had been filled with question marks outside of Max Scherzer, with Jacob deGrom, Taijuan Walker, and Chris Bassitt all potentially playing in different uniforms next season. But the 36-year-old Carrasco will be back for a third season in New York.

Carrasco was steady in the Mets rotation in 2022, pitching to a 3.97 ERA that was inflated due to some late-season struggles, though overall, it was a bounceback season after most of his debut season with the Mets was washed away by injury.
