Sometimes Twitter is the worst.
Mets pitcher Jordan Yamamoto and his wife found that out the hard way on Sunday after the Mets right-hander had a shaky outing, allowing five runs — four earned — in four innings in a 5-1 loss to the Marlins.
But instead of fans taking their frustrations out on Yamamoto, some decided to go after his wife, Madison.
Yamamoto called out those Mets fans in a Twitter post on Monday.
“You don’t go and harass my WIFE!” he wrote. “She isn’t the one playing the game nor wearing the uniform! If you should be trolling any one, it should be me. Tag ma and comment on my posts, it is my fault and my fault alone.”
Yamamoto also thanked the “true fan base” who stuck up for his wife and condemned the “nasty tweets.”
Madison also tweeted about the harassment she received during the game on Sunday.
The 25-year-old is pitching in his first season with the Mets after spending the previous two years with the Miami Marlins.
He has appeared in just two games this season, allowing five earned runs in 6.2 innings pitched with three strikeouts and a 1-1 record.
