According to multiple reports, including Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets are giving Daniel Vogelbach a "mental break," potentially explaining why he wasn't used in favor of Luis Guillorme in the ninth inning with the Mets trailing by one in the ninth inning on Tuesday night.
Per those reports, the Mets plan on sticking with Vogelbach after his mental breather is over, and Tiki and Tierney can't understand why the team refuses to cut ties with the struggling DH.
"I just don't understand," BT said. "It's not even 'Let's rail on Daniel Vogelbach.' I just don't know what the guy's role is. Bluntly, what's his purpose?"
Vogelbach hasn't played since June 7, and has just three hits in his last 33 at-bats, and it's unclear when he will be penciled back into the lineup. But if it's going to happen, BT wants it to be before the Midsummer Classic.
"This is why you cut him," BT said. "After he goes to the All-Star Game of course."
