Carlos Carrasco has seen his share of quality starting rotations.
The 35-year-old pitched alongside Corey Kluber in his prime, Mike Clevinger, and Trevor Bauer in 2017 with Cleveland, then saw Shane Bieber enter that rotation the following season.
But he says he has never pitched in a rotation as good as the 2022 Mets.
"Yes," Carrasco said without hesitation when asked if this rotation was the best he's ever been a part of. "Just to have Jake in there, Max in there, Bassy, Tai…it feels really good to be part of that rotation."
Indeed, any rotation headlined by Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer has to immediately be considered among the best, but Carrasco is playing a part in that as well. After turning in another quality start against the Reds on Wednesday night, Carrasco is pitching to a 1.69 ERA over his last seven starts, and he believes it may be the best stretch he's had in his 13-year career.
"I think one of the best," Carrasco said. "I feel the same way I felt a long time ago, like 2017 and 2018. That's what I've been feeling the last two months, and I want to continue to feel that way so I can finish the season strong."
