The Mets will not need to go to arbitration with Jeff McNeil after he was the only eligible player to exchange figures with the team. Instead, McNeil will be sticking around for at least four more years.
According to multiple reports, the two sides have agreed on a four-year contract extension worth $50 million, with a fifth-year option included. As a result, the Mets won't need to worry about any arbitration cases this year, and their two-time All-Star is secured on a very team-friendly deal.
McNeil, an All-Star in 2022, won the batting title with a .326 batting average, hitting nine home runs with an .836 OPS over 148 games. He primarily played second base (over 100 games), meaning the team now has their middle infield locked up for the foreseeable future, with shortstop Francisco Lindor signed to a long-term contract of his own.
