The 'embarrassing' Mets offense is breaking Evan Roberts

The Mets are averaging 4.5 runs per game over their last 10 games, but two of those 10 have been inflated by 10-run outbursts against the Pirates and Marlins.

Otherwise, New York's offense has gone into a funk against lowly teams like Pittsburgh, Miami, and now, the Cubs. As a result, the lead in the NL East is down to a half game.

Safe to say Evan Roberts is fed up.

"The New York Mets are facing bums, and I mean that with peace and love to Adrian Sampson's family…these guys stink, and it's embarrassing what has happened the last two nights at Citi Field," Evan said to open Wednesday's show. "It's embarrassing.

"They've lost six games to the Pirates, the Nationals, and the Cubs. It's embarrassing, dude. I have tried to remain very even-keeled and confident based on what this team has earned this season, but they are making it very difficult over the last week and a half, because this was the part of the schedule where they were supposed to be doing it against bad teams. They're doing it with a lifeless, limp offense."

The Mets' slump reminds Evan of the Yankees, only with one big distinction.

"You have a game or two where you bust out…but if you look at the majority of the games they've played against bad teams, it's one run, two runs, one run…this lineup has bene limp," Evan said. "It's been Yankee-like, except the Yankees had an excuse. Their entire lineup was hurt. The Mets are dealing with one injury. It's a significant injury, but it shouldn't be the thing that brings this lineup to its knees, and that's [Starling] Marte being out.

"Something's gotta change, otherwise they're gonna blow this division, because they can't beat crap teams and crap pitchers."
