The Mets' lead in the NL East is down to two games after dropping both Subway Series matchups in the Bronx, and Boomer says it's time to take care of business and build that breathing room back up down the stretch of the regular season.
"The Mets, over the next 13 games, 10-3 is attainable, and it should be," Boomer said. "They should win these next four games against the Rockies. They suck. DeGrom is going tomorrow night."
The Mets will have a tough task next week in the Dodgers, but from Sept. 2 to Sept. 18, New York plays seven games against the lowly Pirates, three against the Nationals, three against the Marlins, and three against the Cubs. It is the kind of soft spot on the schedule that can help generate a big league in the division before closing out the month of September by starting a three-game set in Atlanta.
"This stretch run, with exception to the Brewers and the Dodgers, this is where the Mets finish off their glorious season that has had so many special moments," Boomer said.
