Mets Twitter reacts to three more HBPs in two innings, bringing season total to 10

The Mets put together a rally in the bottom of the fourth inning in Wednesday's game against the Phillies with a little help from, you guessed it, a hit by pitch.

Coming into the game having already been plunked seven times as a team, New York added two more to that tally after Mark Canha was hit on the elbow guard to load the bases, and on the very next batter, Jeff McNeil was drilled to force in a run and extend the Mets lead to 3-0.

That brought the grand total up to nine HBPs in just seven games on the young season. One inning later, another would be added to that total, as Dominic Smith became the next victim, getting his on the elbow to load the bases in the fifth.

Manager Buck Showalter, who voiced his displeasure after Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso were hit in the face during the season-opening series against the Nationals, didn't look to thrilled watching the latest HBPs from the Mets dugout.

Mets Twitter couldn't believe it either, as their team overtook the Rockies to lead the league in that painful category.
