The Mets finished the season with 101 wins before getting bounced in the three-game Wild Card Series, and the trolling ensued in full force after the final out.
After managing just one hit in an elimination game against the 86-win Padres, New York found itself at the end of a running joke that many Mets fans thought had come to an end after Steve Cohen and company constructed a team that heard comparisons to the 1986 group throughout the summer.
Instead, the season came to a crashing end, and the Twitter trolls soaked up every bit of it.
