Tylor Megill now awaits MRI on shoulder: 'Pretty curious to see what it is'

Tylor Megill began to feel discomfort in his shoulder shortly after allowing a home run to Christian Yelich, and it quickly became clear that it wasn't worth pushing through in the fourth inning.

"It came about probably in the [Luis] Urias at-bat and then through [Andrew] McCutchen…that's when I felt it more than before," Megill explained after the Mets' comeback win over the Brewers on Thursday night. "Just felt it's not worth it to keep throwing. Wanted to, but didn't want it to blow up or anything."

Megill was pulled after allowing a walk to McCutchen, announced to have left the game with right shoulder discomfort, which immediately drew concern from Mets fans after Megill had just come off the IL with biceps inflammation. Megill was a very important part of New York's rotation to start the season, filling in wonderfully for Jacob deGrom thanks to a new high-90s fastball. He posted a 1.93 ERA over his first five starts, but since then, he has allowed 21 hits and 17 earned runs in his last 13.1 innings of work.

Now, he awaits a Friday MRI to see if he is going back on the IL.

"Felt like in ways it's died down," Megill said of the discomfort after the game. "Pretty curious to see what it is. It's very strange. It's more on the deceleration than the throwing itself. We'll find out more [Friday]."
