It shouldn't come as a surprise, but Evan Roberts might as well have floated onto the set at Giants training camp before Monday's show.
Even news of Kevin Durant's ultimatum couldn't keep Evan from basking in the greatness of Jacob deGrom and the Mets, who have Evan on cloud nine after deGrom dazzled in his Citi Field return, and the Mets took four of five from the division rival Braves.
"Pretty damn good!" Evan said when C-Mac asked how he was feeling. "Craig is on vacation. You want to know why? Craig's on vacation because he's sad. He doesn't want to deal with happy Mets fans. He doesn't want to deal with the fact that the Yankees are struggling."
Evan's Mets are rolling, and nothing is gonna put him down.
"What happened yesterday at Citi Field was special," Evan said. "Every kind of emotion that sports will bring you at times hit my body. Shivers went through my body, tears may have come down my eyes, because I missed that beautiful song…I missed everything about Jacob deGrom.
"I know you're gonna want to pop my bubble, but you won't be able to do it today."
