The Mets have announced their full roster for Old Timers’ Day on Aug. 27, but there is one notable absence among players who had initially been reported as ones set to attend.
Yoenis Cespedes, who was expected to attend, is not on the official list, though the attendees still coming to the return of the event that hasn’t taken place since 1994 is a stacked list.

Pitchers like Bartolo Colon, David Cone, Ron Darling, Al Leiter, Mike Hampton, and Dwight Gooden will be joined by notable position players like Jose Reyes, Darryl Strawberry, Endy Chavez, and Mike Piazza. Terry Collins and Bobby Valentine will also be in attendance.
Cespedes, the catalyst behind the Mets’ run to their last division title in 2015, abruptly left the team in 2020 but has since decided to return to baseball, as he is expected to play in the Dominican Winter League next season.
