Adam Cromie’s name has popped up as a hot candidate for the Mets’ general manager opening in the last week or so, and he got a huge endorsement from a former boss and current Amazins division rival on Wednesday night.
"He’s an intelligent person and he attacked every responsibility that we gave him. I think intelligence, loyalty, and just a good guy with good people skills,” said Nationals GM Mike Rizzo, who employed Cromie from 2007-17.

Cromie has been working at a law firm in Pittsburgh since 2018, but in those 11 years he spent in Washington’s front office, he served in a variety of roles. He was the team’s director of baseball operations from 2010-13, and then served his final four seasons as a vice president and assistant GM under Rizzo before leaving after the 2017 season.
Mets owner Steve Cohen had a face-to-face meeting with Cromie on Tuesday, and according to Michael Mayer of USA Today Network’s Metsmerized, the team has also talked to another former Nationals executive in Sam Mondry-Cohen, with some thought that perhaps the Mets could bring in both.
