Noah Syndergaard is pulling out all the stops in trying to find his long-lost groove on the mound.
The former Mets phenom has been struggling badly with the Dodgers to start the season, as Los Angeles skipped over his last start so the righty can reset and try and get back on track. To begin the 2023 campaign, Syndergaard is pitching to an ugly 6.32 ERA while leading the Dodgers with 22 earned runs in 31.1 innings of work.
To help find his old ways, Syndergaard is turning to hypnosis, as the Los Angeles Times reports that the 30-year-old now goes into the team’s “nap room,” puts on an eye mask, and Dodgers mental skills coach Brent Walker proceeds with the hypnotism.
The hypnotism simply consists of Walker trying to talk to Syndergaard’s subconscious, in hopes of unlocking the nearly 5 mph of velocity he has lost on his fastball in recent years.
Who knows if it will work out, but clearly, Syndergaard is trying anything and everything.
