C-Mac can't believe Pete Alonso got All-Star nod over Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo

Pete Alonso was surprisingly named the lone Mets All-Star representative on Sunday, and while C-Mac doesn't get caught up in who gets selected to the Midsummer Classic, he couldn't believe Alonso was selected over other teammates who are way more qualified.

"If you've watched the Mets this year at all, Pete Alonso, while not having a horrible, horrendous season, is hitting .243 with an OPS under .800," C-Mac said. "He's not nearly the player that Lindor is right now, or Nimmo, quite honestly. Or Vientos.

"The idea that the one All-Star is Pete Alonso screams to me, 'We want him in the All-Star Game and the Home Run Derby.'"

Alonso currently holds a .789 OPS with a team-high 18 home runs, but Lindor is close behind with 15 gome runs while easily leading the team with 26 doubles, not to mention his spectacular defense at a key position in shortstop. Meanwhile, Nimmo has an .811 OPS with a team-high 53 RBI. C-Mac says the nod should have hone to either of them before Alonso.

"He's not an All-Star. That's not knocking Pete," C-Mac said. "He's a great player I think the Mets should pay and keep around. But Francisco Lindor since may has been the heart and soul of the team…he's coming through with big hits late, playing Gold Glove caliber shortstop. To me, the best player on this team is Francisco Lindor, and he should be an All-Star."
