Welcome home, Pete Alonso.
Playing in his first major league games at Tropicana Field, where he went to games as a kid and fell in love with the sport, the Mets slugger blasted a no-doubt home run to extend New York's lead to 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tampa native pointed to his big group of family members in the stands as he crossed home plate for his sixth home run of the year and his first since April 25.
That stretch of 15 games without a home run was the longest of Alonso's career. But he broke that drought in style with a 103 mph blast off the bat on a hanging slider from Shane McLanahan, and his home town was able to see it in person.
