The Mets are in desperate need of outfield help after a wave of injuries, and they reportedly acquired a veteran with recent familiarity in the "Next Man Up" field.
According to multiple reports, the Mets have acquired veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin in a deal with the Cubs, and in the likely event the 34-year-old sees playing time in the majors, it will begin his 15th season in the bigs.
Maybin was in Triple-A with the Cubs and was hitting just .103.
Maybin split time between the Cubs and Tigers last season, playing a total of 32 games and slashing .247/.307/.387 with one home run and seven RBI. The season prior, he was part of the Yankees' surprising core of replacements that helped the injury-riddled Bombers to a 103-win season. In his 82 games with the Yanks after being purchased from Cleveland, Maybin slashed .285/.364/.494 with 11 home runs, and hit a big homer in game three of the ALDS to help finish off a sweep of the Twins.
The Mets would be Maybin's 10th team that he has played for since his career began in 2007.
