The Mets and Yankees are being investigated for possible collusion with Aaron Judge…but apparently, that situation isn’t stopping the teams from talking to each others’ other free agents.
Per Ken Rosenthal, the Mets have checked in with Jameson Taillon, who spent the last two years in the Yankees’ rotation.
Taillon, 31, was 22-11 with a 4.08 ERA in two seasons with the Yankees, pitching 321 2/3 innings over 61 starts and being a stalwart in the rotation as he got further away from his second Tommy John surgery.
The righty made $5.8 million in his final arbitration season last year and did not receive a qualifying offer from the Yankees, so there is no draft pick compensation tied to him.
The Mets lost three of their Top Five starters this off-season, as Jacob deGrom and Chris Bassitt opted out and the team declined their option on Taijuan Walker.
