LOOK: Robinson Cano, Pete Alonso wearing custom cleats to honor Jackie Robinson

The Mets are celebrating their home opener on Jackie Robinson Day, which carries extra meaning on Friday, as it is the 75th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier.

To honor Robinson, Pete Alonso and Robinson Cano are wearing custom cleats with all kinds of nods to one of the most important and influential athletes in history.

Cano, named after Robinson and wears No. 24 as a nod to the Dodger legend (the reverse of Robinson's iconic No. 42, now retired across the league), has the No. 42 on his crème-colored clears with Ebbets Field, the old Brooklyn logo, and Robinson's signature also pictured.

Alonso's includes a famous quote from Robinson, which says "A life isn't important except in the impact it has on other lives," a philosophy Robinson certainly lived himself.
