Sal & Jerry: Mets offense is 'legitimate' with real staying power

The Mets offense continues to click, pouring in five runs in the 10th inning on Tuesday night even with J.D. Martinez nursing a sore ankle.

It was the second night in a row that the Mets offense erupted in extra innings, and Jerry and Sal are all in on this New York offense, which has looked completely different than the first two months of the season.

"Not much going on offensively for much of that game…to pummel the Nationals pitching in that 10th inning, to me, it says a lot about the direction," Jerry said. "June wasn't a fluke. This really seems like the direction that this team is going in."

Sal agrees that the lineup production is sustainable, especially as Francisco Lindor takes off while Francisco Alvarez's return from the IL has helped lengthen the lineup.

"To me, the offense is legit and sustainable," Sal said. "If you get a major league pen, which you're going to see eventually...the more the offense continues to do what they're doing, those things will change once you get a major league bullpen.

"Lindor, Alonso, Nimmo, Vientos, Alvarez, this lineup is legitimate."
