Sal can't believe 'overreactions' to Mets rough patch: 'They're still fine'

The Mets were swept out of Seattle after scoring just one run, leading some fans to wonder if the drop-off is coming for a team that had catapulted itself back into the playoff race.

Sal says any fans worried about a sudden implosion haven't been paying attention to how the Mets have played and responded to adversity for nearly two months.

"I cannot believe the overreaction to a 10-game road trip," Sal said. "Overall, big picture, this feel that 'The Mets have shown their true colors' or 'The Mets are done,' it couldn't be further from the truth. Give me a break. They're a half game back, they've barely lost any ground."

Sal says the addition of the third Wild Card makes all the difference, and while the Padres and Diamondbacks may now be out of reach with the top two spots, the third one is still there for the taking, even after a rough stretch out west. To think that a sweep means the season is ready to implode is simply a lack of faith in what this team has been since the start of June.

"As bad as it may seem with the 10-game road trip…we wanted 6-4, I would have taken 5-5…however, they're still fine," Sal said. "They're right there in the thick of things."
