Sal can't take much more of Mets offensive struggles: 'Same stuff over and over'

The Mets were shut out in a 10-inning loss to the Tigers on Monday, and while Sal didn't have much expectations for the 2024 team, the lack of offense is becoming a grueling watch.

"I'm apathetic. I'm despondent," Sal said. "I just can't take it anymore, watching this team.

"The most infuriating thing in sports to watch is when the team you watch can't score. Outside of 2022, they can't score. Since Citi Field has been born, the Mets, for whatever reason, cannot score runs consistently."

Sal wants to know what is taking J.D. Martinez so long to make his debut and help this struggling lineup, but in reality, he doesn't see the aging veteran making much of a difference when the bats that are supposed to be pillars of the offense continue to not get the job done.

"I'm sick of it. This lineup, Nimmo, Lindor, Alonso, McNeil, Marte, they can't hit," Sal said. "Together, as a team. As individuals, the numbers will be there…but they can't score runs. It's the same stuff over and over again with these guys. It's not going to change unless the players change.

"Why do they make it so hard to score runs?"
