The Mets lost yet another series this past weekend, and for Sal, there isn't much left to say about a season that he has felt is dead for some time now.
But, taking it a step further after dropping a three-game series to the lowly Cardinals, Sal says the 2023 Mets are now tainting the accomplishments of their predecessor.
"The Mets stink, they are no good…what's there to say, aside from nothing, after you say a team is done? They're dead. They're buried," Sal said. "It shows you that they weren't even real last year. The Mets are so bad this year, it's taking away from last year's accomplishments. That's how bad it is with this team."
With each passing loss, Sal says the conversation is shifting from "when will the Mets go on a run?" to "What needs to happen to avoid this disappointment next year?"
"Even after I said they were dead…I still thought they could make the postseason. It's almost impossible for a team with their talent and payroll. Well, maybe you guys were right," Sal said. "The Mets are falling to a place where they're irrelevant right now, and the only conversation is going to be about what changes need to be made moving forward so this doesn't happen again next year."
