BT is back in on the Yankees after their recent call-ups injected new life into the team, but Sal still believes Steve Cohen and the Mets are poised to take over the city in the coming years.
"I'm not saying the Mets will be the premier organization in the sport," Sal said. "They will be the dominant team in this town when it comes to baseball.
"I didn't say this in 2006 like many did…I didn't say this in 2015. Now, I am. I am saying it because of the owner. If I could buy stock in a baseball team in this town, I would buy stock in the New York Mets. I believe in Cohen, I believe in the way he's hiring a president, I believe in Billy Eppler, I believe in the organization's direction and philosophies."
Not only does Sal believe in the Mets' direction, he also doesn't see much reason to believe in the direction of the Yankees, which only enhances his belief that the Big Apple is poised to become a Mets town.
"I think the Yankees are going the other way," Sal said. "Just because of a few games from The Martian, I am not sold on the future being bright. I think they're going the wrong way."
