Sal Licata was hardly excited after the Mets pulled off a walk-off victory over the Yankees on Wednesday night.
In fact, he was mainly disgusted at the product that both teams provided over the two nights of action.
"Here's what I learned about both of these teams after these two games. They both suck!" Sal said. "I'm tired of watching it. I need another break. Good thing there's a day off for both of them. These two teams stink.
"Even in a win with the Mets, they drive you up a freaking wall. Oh my God, what a dreadful display of baseball these last couple nights. The Yankees, without Aaron Judge in that lineup, without Bader, they're thin. Look at the Yankees lineup here. What do you expect?"
The Mets allowed Isiah Kiner-Falefa to steal home, had Brandon Nimmo thrown out at second base to end a bases-loaded rally, and nearly wasted the game-winning run when Eduard Escobar anchored himself to second base on a ball hit to the right field wall. So, while it was a win, it wasn't pretty.
"I think Steve Cohen summed it up," Sal said. "You take the win, but way too many mistakes."
