Sal: Mets have 'earned our trust' to believe that NLCS isn't over yet

The Mets’ outlook looks gloomy as they face a 3-1 series deficit, with the Dodgers winning two straight games on the road in blowout fashion.

But Sal Licata is not about to accept defeat, and if any Mets fan is, they haven’t been watching what this team has been able to do for months now.

“The Mets have provided their fans with a tremendous season…I know the frustration and disappointment…but if anything, this team has earned the belief,” Sal said.

“I’m not saying you have to be illogical and irrational…but until it’s over, let’s not write the Mets funeral.”

The Mets have David Peterson and Sean Manaea lined up for the next two games. The odds may be against them, but both pitchers are capable of cooling down a red-hot Dodger lineup and forcing a decisive game seven, where anything can happen. So it’s not over yet, even if it feels like it to some.

But the focus should only be on game five, and taking it one game at a time. For now, it is still a Mets game day, and Sal says that should be the focus, not on the offseason.

“I don’t think today is the day to be burying the Mets when they’re not dead yet,” Sal said.

“This team has earned that. They’re in the NLCS. Every time they were done…they came back. Now it feels like they’re dead, and this is not the time to giving up.”
