Sal: Mets have as good a chance as anyone to win World Series

The Mets once again came back to win on Tuesday night, erasing a multi-run deficit against the Brewers to move to the brink of advancing to their first NLDS since 2015.

As New York continues to defy the odds and continue their surprising run, Sal Licata says the ceiling only gets higher for this group, to the point where there should no longer be a ceiling for how the 2024 season could end.

“It’s starting to feel like something special is taking place with the New York Mets,” Sal said. “I don’t think the Mets are gonna be put in a more difficult or challenging situation than they were last night. Off of what happened Monday, the doubleheader and celebration, no bullpen, going against a team that was well rested and in their house, and the Mets took it to them.”

Sal says the Mets have the manager in Carlos Mendoza, the star power with Francisco Lindor, and the collection of hitters who know their roles and get it done in big spots, from Jose Iglesias to Tyrone Taylor and Jesse Winker. As everything seems to be coming together, Sal says these Mets have a good shot to be one of the more improbable World Series champions in recent memory.

“At this point, I don’t think we can put any ceiling on this team,” Sal said. “Anything is possible. They continue to show us how good they’ve been.

“I think they have as good a chance as anybody else to win the World Series.”
