Sal says 'bend the knee to King Cohen' after Juan Soto signs record deal with Mets

Sal Licata's show open on BT and Sal Monday morning did not disappoint.

After maintaining for a year that Juan Soto would ultimately sign with the Mets, the free agent superstar did just that on Sunday night, reportedly inking a $765 million deal to head to Queens on a 15-year contract. Sal had temporarily quieted the "King Cohen" label after a brutal 2023 and rough start to 2024, but now, he says the King label is officially back and here to stay.

"King Cohen has delivered like we knew he would!" Sal yelled in celebration at the start of the show. "Juan Soto is a New York Met! King Cohen stole him away from the Yankees!

"Mets fans, Yankee fans, Brian Cashman, Randy Levine, Hal Steinbrenner, BT, bend the knee and bow down to King Cohen!! Yes!!"

Sal believed in Cohen's vision since he ate millions to get rid of Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer in an effort to replenish the farm system, and now, the richest owner in the sport flexed his financial muscle in the biggest way possible, and there are no signs that he will stop at Soto.

Cohen followed up on his promise to make the Mets a contender, and even if it took longer than he initially hoped, he has changed the dynamic of New York baseball with one monster move.

"The days of the Mets being little brother, the little engine that could, the second-citizen Mets, those days are over," Sal said. "King Cohen is here, and he ain't messing around, stealing the Yankees superstar. That means everything for the Mets fan, just to be on equal footing with the Yankees."
