Sal's first callers after huge Mets win want to talk about…the Rangers and Orioles?

Sal Licata opened Wednesday night's show pumped to talk about the biggest win of the Mets season, thanks to three thrilling home runs, including a walk-off moonshot by Pete Alonso.

So, Sal eagerly opened up the phone lines to hear from some fellow euphoric Mets fans, who had been dying to talk about some good news all season. instead, things went off the rails in a hurry.

First, Joe, who said he was calling from Long Island, revealed that he was actually in Texas, just leaving the Ranger game, and wanted to say that he thought Buck Showalter should be fired, just from glancing at the out-of-town scoreboard at Globe Life Field and seeing that the Mets were losing to the Rays.

"Bye Joe!" Sal said, ending the call. "I am not sitting here taking calls from somebody who claims to be from Long Island who is actually calling from Texas, like anyone here cares about the Texas game. I don't want to hear from you unless you're talking about the New York teams here in New York!

"What do you know about this Mets game? You're watching the Ranger game! And on top of that, you're calling to say you want Buck out of here! Not on my watch."

Looking to get things back on track, Sal turned to Nick from Connecticut, and made sure to confirm that Nick was actually calling from where he said he was (Nick was indeed calling from Stratford), only Nick wanted to talk about how the Mets win impacted…the Orioles?

"The Orioles? Hold on a second. You know you're calling WFAN in New York, right?" Sal said. "So why are you talking about the Orioles? We're 0-for-2. We're down 2-0 to start. Can we make a comeback?

"The Mets just had their benchmark win of the year so far…and I got somebody calling me from Texas, saying Buck Showalter should be fired, and someone from Connecticut calling me about how it impacts the Orioles? What are we doing here?"
