New York received all of one vote on either the NL or AL Cy Young ballots this year, that one going to Sean Manaea when the voting tallies were released Wednesday.
Manaea got one fifth-place vote from Nobuhiro Saito, who covers the Dodgers for Nikkan Sports News, and that tied him with Aaron Nola and Reynaldo Lopez as the last three players on the ballot.
Three ex-New Yorkers received votes in the balloting, as former Yankee Michael King was named on eight of 30 NL ballots to finish seventh, while now-Royal Seth Lugo was the runner-up to Tarik Skubal in the AL, and Kirby Yates, now with the Rangers, got one fourth-place vote to finish eighth out of 10 receiving votes.
No other Mets or current Bombers were named in the voting.
Skubal and Atlanta’s Chris Sale were the winners, with Skubal unanimous and Sale receiving 26 of 30 first-place votes.
New York has a chance to do very well in the final awards presentation, Thursday’s MVP Award reveals, as both Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are finalists in the AL (with Judge widely expected to win), and Francisco Lindor is a finalist in the NL and could potentially upset projected winner Shohei Ohtani.
