Starling Marte still feels some discomfort in his fractured finger, but it's not enough to keep him off the Mets' Wild Card Series roster with the season on the line.
Marte, who hasn't played in a month, is getting the start in right field and batting sixth for New York in Friday's game one, as the Mets believe a percentage of Marte is better than 100 percent of an alternative in the lineup.
"That's kind of a tough question for me, but it's starting to feel better," Marte said when asked if his finger feels 100 percent. "You still feel a little discomfort, but the more you keep playing, you'll be able to adjust to it and start feeling better."
But Marte told Buck Showalter with 100 percent conviction that he wanted to play, and he's going to give it a go on the postseason stage.

Showalter: "How you feeling?"
Marte: "I play."
Showalter. "Ok then."
That's literally how it went
"It means a lot," Marte said. "This team went out there and battled when I wasn't around. To be able to be here with them and go into this competition, it means a lot for me to go out there and help."
