The Mets finally got a win on Wednesday, but their owner took a loss in the form of a Twitter roast, courtesy of…Braves mascot Blooper?
Blooper, a fascinating combination of Shrek and ramen noodles who was notorious for creating his own entertainment in empty ballparks last season, mocked Steve Cohen's tweet from Wednesday morning where he called out the Mets offense for struggling so badly during their recent slide, which knocked them into third place, having since been leapfrogged by the surging Braves.
So after Atlanta hung 11 runs on the Marlins in its latest victory, now owning a 4.5 game lead on the Mets, Blooper took Cohen's controversial tweet and turned it on its head.
"It's easy to understand how professional hitters can be this productive," the tweet read. "The best teams have a disciplined approach like ours. The slugging and OPS numbers don't lie."
This, of course, is the exact opposite of what Cohen tweeted Wednesday morning.
"It's hard to understand how professional hitters can be this unproductive," Cohen's tweet read after a loss to the Giants, the team's fifth in a row at the time. "The best teams have a more disciplined approach. The slugging and OPS numbers don't lie."
Atlanta has won six in a row while the Mets have lost five games in a six-game span, and Blooper is clearly feeling himself at New York's expense.
