The Mets are in need of a spark, sitting four games below .500 entering the second half of June.
The only issue, in the eyes of Tiki and Tierney, is that the team has no leadership figure to provide such a jolt to get the Mets going.
"The Mets are directionless," BT said. "The 2023 Mets are leaderless…the Mets, they're just drifting.
"Not a player, not Buck, not the GM, Cohen isn't going down that road. They don't."
Buck Showalter was the 2022 National League Manager of the Year, but neither Tiki nor Tierney believe that he has shown the ability to wake up his group, and it doesn't help that those above the manager don't seem to have a concrete vision of how to build a winning roster with proven leaders.
"In order for very good managers to have success, they gotta have the right people there," Tiki said. "They gotta have internal leaders, leaders in the clubhouse, you gotta have a front office that populates the team with really good players, and the Mets have none of that.
"When you boil it all together…it feels more like a stew that has just been thrown together and it's not actually coming up tasty at all. This Mets team feels lost because it doesn't feel like it has a leader."
