WATCH: Jacob deGrom wrestles teammate in outfield before Mets series opener

We've seen Jacob deGrom play shortstop and first base during batting practices, but while the Mets were getting loose before their series opener against the Braves on Tuesday, the ace was not practicing a different position. He was practicing a different sport.

DeGrom was seen on MLB Network's ballpark cam in Atlanta wrestling a teammate in left field. The teammate was in full catcher's gear (perhaps James McCann or Patrick Mazeika?) when deGrom took him down to the outfield grass, when another Met promptly flew in to imitate a referee counting off three seconds to finish off the pin.

The playfulness from deGrom wasn't loved by many Mets fans, who immediately brought up injury concerns after the MVP candidate has suffered multiple injuries this season, two of which deGrom thought was from swinging a bat. He has been watched closely in recent starts after leaving back-to-back starts early due to injury earlier this month.

Degrom makes his next start on Thursday night as he continues his quest for a third Cy Young Award. Maybe he can add a WWE championship belt to his long list of accolades as well.
