Joe & Evan would take Mets offense over Yankees at full strength

The Yankees are still leading the league in runs scored and home runs, and are second in all of baseball in OPS, but if you ask Joe and Evan, they're taking the Mets offense if they had to choose between the two.

And that doesn't involve recency bias.

"Here's why I think it's the Mets either way," Evan said. "The Yankees beat up on teams that bring the stats up, and they go days where they don't hit.

"The Mets have gone through slumps, I don't want to act like they haven't, but I have never felt like they've slumped offensively the way the Yankees have."

The Mets certainly have the look of a deeper team right now, as their trade deadline acquisitions have all thrived offensively since coming to New York. Meanwhile, the Yanks haven't been able to generate much offense at all from key positions like shortstop, where Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been poor at the plate all season, third base, where Josh Donaldson has only just begun to show more pop, and center field, where Aaron Hicks has had a dreadful season.

"The Mets to me, they have a deeper team," Joe said. "They have a lot of guys. the Yankees are a very top-heavy offense. The Mets, Luis Guillorme is contributing."

And for those who may call bias on the two Mets fans, their fandom is exactly why their take does not contain any bias.

"If anything, us being a Met fan would lean us to picking the Yankees," Evan said. "Because we have respect for them."
