As St. John’s introduces its flashy new head coach in Rick Pitino on Tuesday, its head coach that was replaced by Pitino is reportedly suing the school for his termination.

According to an ESPN report, Mike Anderson is filing a lawsuit against St. John’s for wrongful termination. Anderson was fired after four seasons in which he posted a 68-56 record and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament.

Anderson, according to ESPN, would be owed $11 million if he wasn’t fired for cause, but Anderson counters that he was wrongfully terminated.

Per ESPN, St. John’s listed in its termination letter to Anderson that he was let go for, “failure to perform your duties and responsibilities in a manner that reflected positively on St. John's University ... in actions [that] brought serious discredit" to the school and "failure to appropriately supervise and communicate with your assistant coaches.”

In response, Anderson told ESPN, “I vehemently disagree with the university's decision to terminate my contract for cause. The for cause accusation is wholly without merit and I will be aggressively defending my contractual rights through an arbitration process.”
