Trade talks between the Knicks and Jazz regarding Donovan Mitchell haven’t evolved into anything imminent, as Utah’s asking price remains astronomically high for the three-time All-Star, but it has reportedly allowed other potential suitors to enter the chat.
According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, the Jazz have “multiple offers on the table” from other teams, and as for Mitchell himself, he has his own list of desired destinations.
Per Jones, the Knicks are indeed on Mitchell’s list of places he would prefer to play next, and the Heat are on that list as well, along with the Nets. Considering Brooklyn is moving forward with Kevin Durant, and that Ben Simmons’ rookie contract was signed with another team, forbids the Nets to also have Mitchell on the roster, per CBA rules. So, Brooklyn seems like a long shot.
As for Miami, the team was reportedly looking to make a splash for Durant, and now could turn its attention to Mitchell and represent the Knicks’ biggest competition to acquire him.
Jones also noted that Mitchell hasn’t asked the Jazz to trade him, but it’s clear he’s being shopped.
