Cam Thomas has been fined $40,000 for using "derogatory and disparaging language during a live television interview," the NBA announced on Friday afternoon.
Thomas, while doing an on-court interview during TNT's national broadcast of the Nets and Bulls on Thursday night, was talking alongside Spencer Dinwiddie, and used an anti-gay phrase when talking about the Nets being an improved team in the "looks department" after Dinwiddie was brought back in a trade that send Kyrie Irving to the Mavericks.

The reporter conducting the interview immediately took note that, "I'm sure the league office is going to enjoy that one," and sure enough, Thomas was fined for his remark.
Thomas apologized for the phrase shortly after the game, tweeting, "I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the post-game interview. I was excited about the win and was being playful. I definitely didn't intend to offend anyone, but realize that I probably did. My apologies again. Much love."
