The Nets did indeed play a tribute video for Kevin Durant, who heard light boos in his return to the Barclays Center on Wednesday night.

Keith said the boos weren’t nearly loud enough for a player they never should have believed would remain committed to them.

“Nets fans have to realize, this is the guy that left Oklahoma City, can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, and jumped on the Warriors franchise,” Keith said. “That’s who we were thinking, when he signed his extension for four years to stay here, was gonna actually stay here. It’s Kevin Durant.

“That’s why we’re never gonna be anything, man. We’re always gonna be the lowly Nets, the miserable Nets…when Kyrie went back to TD in Boston, what did that sound like? We don’t have that in us…there’s people sitting there with puppy dog eyes.”

A caller lost his voice booing Durant on Wednesday, and Keith said that should have been response from the entire crowd. Instead, there was too much love and forgiveness for a player that brought nothing but disappointment.

“He stepped on the line. That was a 2-point shot, not a 3-point shot,” Keith said of the shot from Durant that potentially kept Brooklyn from winning a title with their superteam. “That’s how he’ll be remembered. Sat out a whole year. Came here, sat out a year, and collected.

“His legacy doesn’t exist. He has a tarnished legacy.”
