Kevin Durant threw up a pair of thumbs downs and started booing a group of young Knicks fans at the Barclays Center before Wednesday night's game, and those fans didn't have much to cheer about after Durant posted a triple-double in a Brooklyn rout.
Asked about his playful booing after the game, Durant said he will never miss an opportunity to have some fun with Knicks fans, and based on his perfect record against New York since signing with the Nets, it doesn't seem like he's ever going to give those fans a chance at payback.
"Regardless of each team's record, it's always gonna be a rivalry," Durant said. Regardless of who's on the floor, there's always gonna be a rivalry because of the fans here in New York City. They're so passionate and they love their sports.
"As long as I'm wearing a Nets jersey, If I see a Knicks fan, I'm always gonna give them a thumbs down or just give them some s--- about being a Knicks fan. It only adds to the rivalry and the fans feel more engaged…it's all in fun."
The fans seemed to get a kick out of it, but likely didn't enjoy the sight of Durant and the Nets thoroughly dominating the Knicks from beginning to end on Wednesday.
