Kevin Durant to sit out Friday's Nets game in Cleveland after playing 50 minutes Wednesday

Kevin Durant will not play for the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night in Cleveland, sitting out for what the team termed “injury recovery – right Achilles Tendon surgery.”

Durant was not likely to play very many games that were second halves of back-to-backs this season – although he did play 30 minutes in the last one – but he will sit out even with a day’s rest after playing 50 minutes in the Nets’ double-OT loss to the Cavaliers on Wednesday.

The Nets are on the first half of a back-to-back on Friday night, with another game Saturday in Miami, but it remains to be seen if this absence is a setback of any sort, or precautionary reversal of the usual back-to-back protocol due to extended minutes on Wednesday.
