Shaun Morash sent Evan into a tailspin on Tuesday when he predicted that Kevin Durant’s No. 7 will eventually hang in the rafters at the Barclays Center.
“He’s getting his number retired,” Shaun said. “That will be the next bet I place.
“Within the next 15 years, Kevin Durant’s jersey will be retired.”
Not that Shaun necessarily believes the honor would be warranted given how fantastically disappointing the Nets superteam era was with Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, winning just one playoff series, but he believes it’s something the Nets will do in spite of the failure.
“Pathetic organization…I don’t want to see it happen, but I understand when my organization is second rate and does things like this,” Shaun said.
“Because of how we dislike so much more the way it ended with Kyrie and Harden, I bet there are a bunch of Brooklyn fans who will applaud him when they show the highlights of his toe on the line. I’m telling you, he’s getting his number retired.”
Evan was emphatically against the idea of seeing Durant’s number high above the floor every time he goes to a Nets game.
“They could have if he stayed,” Evan said. “I’d rather retire Joe Johnson’s No. 7!”
