It has been nearly a full month since Kevin Durant reportedly asked Nets owner Joe Tsai to be traded, and not only is Durant still in Brooklyn, but trade talks have reportedly slowed down significantly as the offseason drags on.
According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, trade chatter surrounding the 34-year-old superstar has "slowed to a trickle."
"From what I understand, the trade talks involving Kevin Durant have slowed to a trickle," Windhorst said Wednesday morning. "You can still get some Nets folks on the phone if you want to make an offer, but they are not aggressively, I am told, making outgoing calls."
Multiple reports indicate that nearly every team in the league has at least checked in on Durant, but with four years left on his deal, the Nets could hold out and wait for what they believe is the best package possible before sending Durant on his way. Teams like the Heat are reportedly prioritizing trading for Durant, but Brooklyn could still begin next season with Durant on the roster.
Whether Durant is with the team next season or not, it sounds like a trade won't happen any time soon.
"The league is about to go on their first significant vacations in two years," Windhorst said. "Kevin Durant is still a Net. And I don't think that is going to change in the short-term future."
