Ever since reports of Kevin Durant asking for a trade surfaced on Thursday afternoon, the superstar’s legacy has been widely criticized across social media, with many fans declaring that Durant can’t win a title for a team that he tries to lead in its establishment.
The Nets superstar, but soon to be another team’s superstar, tweeted for the first time since the trade request news broke, though it was a fairly vague statement that only seemed to be defending his work ethic and his ability as a basketball player, which obviously has never been under question as one of the greatest scorers of all time.
“The ones who were locked in that gym with me know what it is, they know what I’m about,” Durant tweeted Saturday morning. “If you haven’t been in there with me, ask around.”
Sports Illustrated’s Robin Lundberg responded to the tweet and addressed its vagueness, to which Durant replied asking what he wanted addressed. Lundberg responded asking if he indeed wanted to leave Brooklyn, if Kyrie Irving was a “dealbreaker” in his decision, and if he believes he would get to pick his next stop.
Durant simply responded, “keep dreaming.”
Sounds like we won’t get much from Durant on the subject for a while.
