Kyrie Irving apologizes for interaction with MSG fan: 'I was just fed up with our performance'

The mood for Kyrie Irving and the Nets was much different at the end of the first half than it was at the end of the second.

Long before Brooklyn finished off a 21-point comeback over the rival Knicks at Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn was being run out of the gym by a shorthanded New York squad, surrendering a 16-0 run that led to a 17-point halftime lead.

The frustration reached a boiling point when Kyrie Irving had some words with a fan while walking into the locker room at the end of that first half, but apologized after the game, realizing his interaction was with the wrong fan.

"People just yelling random s--t from the crowd," Irving said. "They wanted a reaction, they got one. I think I tapped the wrong person…he looked at me with a surprising look on their face, so I didn't mean to tap him. Somebody said something. I was just fed up with our performance."

The fan indeed looked confused when Irving tapped him on the shoulder, as fans surrounding him appeared to be yelling towards Irving. But it was Irving and the Nets who got the last laugh, as the Knicks put together another second-half collapse, helping Brooklyn inch closer towards the seventh seed.
