NBPA roasted for releasing statement renouncing anti-Semitism without naming Kyrie Irving

The NBA Players Association released a statement on Tuesday afternoon speaking out against anti-Semitism, which was promptly roasted for not naming Kyrie Irving, and coming days after the Nets point guard shared a link to a controversial video based on a book filled with anti-Semitism.

"Anti-Semitism has no place in our society," the statement read. "The NBPA is focused on creating an environment where everyone is accepted. We are committed to helping players fully understand that certain words can lead to harmful ideologies being spread. We will continue to work on identifying and combating all hate speech wherever it arises."

Irving, a vice president of the NBPA, was never mentioned in the statement, despite it clearly being made in response to the controversy surrounding Irving, who later deleted his tweet after defending it to reporters following Saturday's game against the Pacers. Given the absence of Irving's name and the statement being made far later than some would have liked, the response to the statement was widely critical.
