The Nets will a new face on the team when play resumes Thursday, as the team announced Tuesday they have signed guard Goran Dragic for the remainder of the season.
To make room on the roster, the Nets requsted waivers on Jevon Carter, and per HoopsHype’s Yossi Gozlan, the Nets can only offer Dragic the veteran minimum.

Dragic, 35, was dealt from Toronto to San Antonio on Feb. 10, and quickly bought out by the Spurs. The veteran point guard has played just five games this season for the Raptors, and averaged eight points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in those games before being benched in late-November in a “mutual decision” between himself and the team.
Since then, Dragic has been working out in South Florida, waiting to find a home to finish out what was the second year of a two-year, $37.4 million deal he originally signed with Miami in the summer of 2020, a year before he was dealt to Toronto in a sign-and-trade deal for Kyle Lowry.
Dragic reportedly had interest from multiple teams, but will reunite with his former mentor, Nets head coach Steve Nash, whom he played with (and learned under) in Phoenix during his first two-plus seasons (2008-11) in the NBA. Dragic also spent two seasons in Phoenix and one in Miami alongside Amar’e Stoudemire, now a Nets player development assistant.
Carter played 46 games for the Nets this season, averaging 3.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per game. The point guard has another year at $3.925 million left on the three-year deal he originally signed with Phoenix in 2020, but Gozlan noted that the Nets can stretch that out as $1.3 million in dead cap over the next three seasons.
